* Note: The system picks up the names Teacher or Instructor based on the LMS you are using. For example, Canvas uses “Teacher,” and Blackboard uses “Instructors.”
Question: How are LMS Teachers/Instructors mapped to the Meeting Host Group in Adobe Connect?
Answer: Here is a description of how the Role Mapping for Teachers (and other roles) work between the LTI and Adobe Connect:
- Teachers/Instructors, when the role is mapped as Host, will be added to the Meeting Host group in Adobe Connect after they create their first meeting in the LTI and sync the user list. Once added to the Meeting Hosts group, they are there; they’re not removed from the group unless it’s manually done in AC itself.
- If the Teacher/Instructor in question is already in the Meeting Host Group in Adobe Connect, the system recognizes this, and there should be no need for the Teacher/Instructor to create a meeting in the LTI in order to have these rights.
- Teachers/Instructors who have not created a meeting in the LTI and are added to the participants’ list and synced are not added to the Meeting Hosts list, even if they are Teachers in the course.
- Custom roles do not add users to the Meeting Host group in Adobe Connect, even if mapped as Host. This simply ensures that the user in the custom role is added as a Host to the Meeting Participant list.
- Regarding the Is Teacher checkbox – Is Teacher does not grant Meeting Host rights. It uses Connect Admin rights (in the background, not in AC itself), so the users in groups with Is Teacher enabled can create Course Meetings in the LTI without having full access to a Course that a Teacher would have.
- Note, users who are part of a Role that has Is Teacher checked are not added to the Adobe Connect Administrators group. This is only used by the API. The users themselves have no extra rights added.
